7TH ANNUAL STRATEGIC REVIEW CONFERENCE
The Trust held its 7th Annual Strategic Review Conference on the 17th 18th June, 2010 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
In his opening address, Dr Frank Odoom expressed his happiness for being part of the stock-taking programme of the previous years achievement and strategy to develop SSNIT into a World-Class institution. He stressed that visionary leadership will play a major role in the theme; Implementing the Medium Term Strategic Plan: Adopting a Pragmatic Approach.
The Director General enumerated some of the qualities of a good leader. A pragmatic leader, according to him, is the leader who can influence the conduct of his people in achieving positive results. The Leader should think strategically and requires analytical abilities and self-awareness to move an institution forward.
He also urged Managers as leaders, to be analytical and come out with strategies on how to use inadequate logistics and minimum resources to achieve results. Again, he exhorted them to find solutions to challenges like receiving less contribution to pay almost the same benefit and ways to manage the gap.
Dr Odoom however, was of the belief that some of the solutions stated had been offered before but still challenges existed, due probably to poor implementation. So if we can implement half of the ideas the conference had come out with, we would be a great institution, he emphasised.
To forestall such occurrences, he suggested the constitution of a small group to monitor and sensitise all staff to implement at least 50% of the ideas that had come out.
In his closing remarks, the Director General indicated his appreciation for the time and commitment shown during the conference and expressed the opinion that if we always did that, we would become a powerful institution.
The conference was chaired Mrs Gifty Anterkyi, G.M. Ops.
