INTRODUCTION

The Social Security Scheme is the only basic Social Security Scheme that insures
the Ghanaian worker against the following:

• Old Age
  
• Invalidity
  
• Death

The worker contributes 5% of his salary and the employer adds 12.5%, making a
total of 17.5% which is paid to SSNIT.
